| Has anybody tried using the practice test for the beachfront quizzer ??
After about 2 weeks of studying tcat's pdf and reading the new cramsession guide, I decided I'll try the practice test..... GOD I got KILLED !!! out of 30 questions I got alease 17 questions that I have NEVER heard before and was not in either study guides. I will say that I'm new into Security BUT not new to the IT field.
My question is, does anybody know if the real test is going to like the beachfront practice tests ?? if so I think I'll give up on the beta test and wait for it in November.

| I used Beachfront once and was surprised at how far off the subject matter they were at the time. This has been over a year ago, so I don't know about them now.
Peace. | |

| The answer is:
Security+ practice test is nothing like the beta. I know becuase I wrote that test sim before the objectives were released. The test sim is more like CISSP (lite).
I would like to clarify the thoughts on BFQ tests. IMO, it depends on who the author is.
I put about 6 months of work into the Network+ test sim. 4 months into the new i-Net+
Neither of these look like anything you have seen from BFQ, including my quick and dirty freebie Security+.... that was done as a stab in the dark. (but it has good stuff to know)

| I've been using it for a couple weeks and I think it's going to be quite helpful.
Also using the PDF guide and "Exam Cram CISSP guide on books 24x7" and Hack proofing your network" as well as a couple Cisco press security books.
I think I'm ready though.
I this like most beta's, the results aren't given for 4 to 6 weeks?

| I translates quite well to Pocket PC using the free Pocket PC Acrobat Reader on adobe's site.
Very convenient. | |

| Chodan,
Thanks for the feedback about reading on the pocket PC. I hadn't tried it yet with my (aging) IPAQ 3635....
Just out of curiosity, would you be interested in a pocket PC based test engine? It's a project I'd like to be involved with, but the funding for me to do it won't be there until demand has been demonstrated.

| I hear what you're saying about Beachfront.
Here's a bit of quasi-inside knowledge for you on this, from someone who's done some work for them over the past 6 months or so. Lately they've been making an effort to upgrade their content -- both books and test sims (this is why I became involved). For instance, I think if you look at the new Network+ test sim (or the associated Network+ book), you'd be very pleasantly surprised. BFQ's Network+ test sim now compares very favorably with Transcender, and the Network+ book with ANY (yes, ANY) out there.
Since Tcat won't toot his own horn.... he personally revised the Network+ test sim, and will be writing the final (non-beta) Security+ test sim as far as I know. Expect it to be on a par with Network+, complete with good explanations and web links, and fully tech-reviewed by multiple geeks prior to publication. One of those geeks will probably be me, an old-line TCP/IP techie and computer security person from the mid-1980's. Think of me as BFQ's version of "Spike" for the BFQ Security+ products. ;-)

Absolutely
I have been hoping for a pocket PC test engine to come along ever since I bought my Ipaq 3850.
It would be sooooo convenient.
Sybex sometimes come out with palm based flash cards which were cool. But it is turning into a pocket PC world " at least my world has "
I think a Pocket PC test engine would be a hit. |
