I am looking toward CISSP.
If we are able to make the purchase of a Cisco IDS then I may do CCIE Security.
But I will go CISSP first.
Anyone going for a non Security cert next??

interesting question. As soon as I am done with Linux+, I will look into Sec+ and then CISSP will be the next logical step. After that, back on the CCNP wagon

How are you liking the cisco stuff compared to the other stuff you've done?

I am not a big Cisco cert fan. I enjoy working with the gear, though. The biggest drawback for me is the Cisco website. What a pile of crap. I can never find anything in there I end up using Google to index their site. Their own search engine is a nightmare for me.

The positives mostly involve Cisco Press books. Fantastic quality.

I am thinking about taking a CCNP bootcamp to get it out of the way. I deal with 30+ routers daily, so I do not feel that I would be short-changing myself by going the bootcamp way. It's not like I don't have the hands-on experience already.

I guess being mostly confined at layers 2 3 and 4 gets boring for me after a while. That's probably why I have been dragging my feet so much with the CCNP

I thought for awhile I might go more Cisco but lately I've had quite a bit of fun rolling out Active Directory and Exchange 2000.
I really like covering the spectrum, except that I don't care much for programming or app development.

I almost always find what I'm looking for on Cisco's site but It has taken a while to get a feel for it.
Now they've changed it

I like your attitude of "enjoying the whole spectrum". That's why you are so successful.

I really have to get my butt in gear and start testing again soon. It sure is easy to let go for a while

I know what you meen.
I did Sec+ to get me kick started again.
It's challenging while also being do-able.
CISSP seems like its going to be VERY challenging.
But again do-able "I hope"

I'm sure you will do well with the CISSP. I agree with you that it is a bit overwhelming when you look at the breadth of info you are supposed to master for this test. I guess that's why it is actually worth something

What about CIW Security Profesional, it sounds cool, do you think its a good cert, or security+ is better?

Happy new year

I am not sure how recignized the CIW security track is recognized. Have you ever seen it listed in a job ad? I never have. It does not mean that it is not a good cert. I am just wondering aloud how accepted it is in the market place at this stage.
