Author Certification vs. pay

I'm in charge of a support center and would like to create some sort of
incentive related to certification for presently uncertified personnel.
We presently reimburse for the education and materials, but not the
testing. We have no set pay increase / bonus in place upon successful
certification. Are there any other managers out there that have plans in
place that work?

TIA,
Tim

I was in Atlanta when a large 3rd party call center got a new contract and
part of it was that all people had to be A+ certified in three months or be
replaced. It was as simple as sending out an email.

Which somehow implies that having a certification means you know what you
are doing?

Then again, if the company pays for it, why not? At least if layoffs still
happen you have something to help you land your next job.

if you hire only certified personal then the actual people working for you
won't feel at ease at the idea that they couldn't apply on the job.

Where I work, employees get .50 per hour extra for each cert up to a max of
course
