The board used to be active when obtaining certifications got you jobs. With
the steady layoffs in Information Technology due to offshoring even people
with degrees, certifications, and experience are having a hard time finding
work. If you are in IT, then the MCSE would help. If you are a newbie, then
it is not worth it.

| Actually it seems like it's Needed any more to even get an interview for a
helpdesk job at 7-11 or McDonalds
that and a BA with 5 years of networking exp,
then you can start/continue your career making $11 per hour

IT is no longer worth it. Getting certified in the 90s was a golden ticket.
I knew people out of high school getting a CNE and were making 80K their
second year. A+ would get you 40K a year in job markets where I was. Times
were good for a long while.
People have argued with me that they are in IT as they love working with
computers rather than to make money. After numerous layoffs, extended
unemployment, continuing education, and lower salaries those same people
will want to make computers a hobby rather than a career.
