The exam won't teach you anything. Going through the book, and playing
with a small test network will teach you loads.
As to whether _you_ would be better off doing 2003 instead, it's
impossible to say, based on the information provided, except that if your
goal really is "just to get more familiar with Windows 2000 server and active
directory", Windows 2000 server would be more relevant.
