Author Closing of TechTrain

Is anyone else out there getting screwed like I am from the closing of
TechTrain. I am from Michigan and i had planned to take a Bootcamp
from them, and I canceled before i went, and the loan had already been
sent to TechTrain. Now that they are closed I am unable to get my
money back. I have contacted lawyers in MI and my Congressman also.
I'm waiting to hear from a lawyer in NC. Please let me know if there
is someone else out there in the same situation? Or does anyone have
any advice?

My best advice right now, is to try to get a hold of other people who were
going to the bootcamp, and get them involved. A few years ago during the
lanop mess, quite a few of their students got together and took them to
court.

And pray they didn't declare bankrupcy. If they did, I believe their actual
creditors come first in line to be paid, and students get what's left over
if anything.

You need to go to the people who have taken it over and jump in line.
I was friends with many people over there and it was a sad and swift
day TechTrain shut down. If you like www.hotlavasoftware.com will
give at no charge all the mcse training you like from our portfolio of
palm and pocket pc based mcse training. anyone who was in a techtrain
program can email us and we will send you all the mcse training or
other training you like for free. see www.hotlavasoftware.com.

The money would have been better spent toward a college degree. Certs are
worthless. Aren't any of you seeing the light on this topic?

That's too easy. Certs are still required in many places. Having an
interview tomorrow, a network support position, IT Admin, etc. and they will
not interview anyone without an MCSE and a BSCS.

I have both, just wrapping up my degree. Really need BS and at least MCSE
today. Next year, who knows.

You don't spend money... some easy years (lots of parties,
lots of sex, free beer etc) and WHOA! degree!... *NO*.
I think you have seen too many college-related movies...

Facts:

1. BS degrees ARE VERY DIFFICULT (1000x times harder than
MCSE2003 + MCDBA SQL2000 + OracleDBA + MCAD + ... etc)
lots of math, etc.

2. Yes, MCSE is a fu**ing JOKE!, but most IT companies
require it! If you don't have it, you are a fu**ing loser!

Yeah, whatever.

I live in Ft Lauderdale,FL and I went to the TechTrain center here in Sunrise,FL during the year 2003 to get my MCSA.
I couldn't pass the tests, because TechTrain sold me the so called "Guarantee Pass Test" Package (Trascenders) and I never could fulfill any of those tests. That package increased my student loan in 2300.00 USD.
Now that they closed, I'm looking for an institution where I could take the exams only, but I think I should not pay the exam's fees to Microsoft because I've already paid for them IN my student loan with TechTrain.
What can I do now?
Any help will be useful.
Horatio.
