| You have recently installed and configured an SUS server for your 5,000
Windows XP Professional SP1 clients to use to download and install approved
updates from. All clients are located in one of the ten OUs that correspond
to the various departments within the company, with approximately 500
computers per department. You have also configured Automatic Updates in
Group Policy at the domain level to point all of your clients towards the
SUS server. After a week has gone by, you have determined through
performance monitoring that your single SUS server is being slightly
overloaded. You decide to configure a second SUS server that your clients
can connect to. How should you configure your clients so that half of them
connect to the first SUS server and half of them connect to the second SUS
server without disrupting any of the other existing Group Policies you have
in place and without requiring any extra administrative effort on your part?
1.. Create two new OUs and move half of the client computers into each of
the OUs. Configure a new GPO for each OU that points the Automatic Updates
clients towards one of the two SUS servers. Remove the Automatic Updates GPO
that is linked to the domain.
2.. Create two new GPOs, with one of them pointing Automatic Updates
clients towards the first SUS server and the other pointing clients towards
the second SUS server. Link each of the GPOs to five of the ten departmental
OUs you have. Remove the Automatic Updates GPO that is linked to the domain.
3.. Create a new GPO for each of the ten OUs. Configure five of the new
GPOs to point at the first SUS server and the other five new GPOs to point
at the second SUS server. Remove the Automatic Updates GPO that is linked to
the domain.
4.. Create two new OUs within each of the 10 existing OUs. Create two new
GPOs, with one of them pointing Automatic Updates clients towards the first
SUS server and the other pointing clients towards the second SUS server.
Link one of the new GPOs to one of the new OUs and link the other new GPO to
the other new OU in each of the departmental OUs. Move half of the client
computers in each departmental OU to each of the new OUs created within the
departmental OU. Remove the Automatic Updates GPO that is linked to the
domain.
