Recently, I got mail which contains W32.Gibe.B@mm virus. The mail is
something like the following:
Microsoft Customer

this is the latest version of security update, the
"June 2003, Cumulative Patch" update which eliminates all
known security vulnerabilities affecting Internet Explorer,
Outlook and Outlook Express as well as five newly discovered
vulnerabilities. Install now to protect your computer from these
vulnerabilities, the most serious of which could allow an attacker to
run executable on your system. This update includes the functionality
of all previously released patches...........

The virus is attached as "update.exe". Please don't open it. Delete it.

You will probably find that you will get this e-mail weekly - I do. If
you block the E-mail address, you will find that it arrives form a
different source each time. I have advised Microsoft but they do not
seem to care. I would suggest that you do the same and let Microsoft
know because they are definitely using the Microsoft name.

Yes Microsoft, they said they do not send attachments, ever; so don't open
attachments in email, delete the email, etc. etc.

I was getting one or two of these a week, I had to laugh each time. Mainly
because MS Security Bulletins come as plain text with a PGP Authincation
String...

Anyone stupid enough to run an executable from an unsolicited email
deserves everything they get
