Re: Jobs To India Campaign

| The jobs are going offshore as fast as they can leaving a large glut of IT
people looking for work while trade schools are producing more MCSEs than
every will be needed. Companies are also sending other desk work to India
such as financial and clerical. One airline just sent three thousand
reservation phone positions to Manila. You've got a growing class of middle
income Americans that cannot get work at this point and the jobs they had
are long gone.
The foreclosure rate is going to be rising quick in some areas as people
abandon homes.
These trade agreements such as NAFTA have ensured that middle America will
be on the same level as a third world country in a few years. We'll have a
small ultra rich class served by the mass of well educated peons.
Still these idiots think this is merely a 'downturn' and the situation will
soon be improving. Yes, the economy is growing in some sections; just the
little problem that some sections such as IT are in a rapid decline that is
not going to turn around unless the government gets involved.
Of course I can just go get my A+ cerfication, shut up, and I'll soon have
a good paying secure job.

| Maynard,
I agree with your comments regarding trade schools but on the rest you are
out to lunch.
Give me a break NAFTA has nothing to do with the job drain to India because
in case you don't know NAFTA stands for North American Free Trade Agreement
and the last time I checked my atlas India and the Philippines are not in
North America.
You say that the trade agreements like NAFTA are making middle class
Americans on the same level as a third world country, well as a Canadian
whose country is part of NAFTA and is definitely not third world, and whose
economy is outperforming the US (even despite the effects of SARS, Mad Cow,
and a rising dollar) I say shut up and get in touch with reality. Why don't
you realize that half the problem is the war on terror and its negative
impact on your economy, and its effect on the willingness of the average
American to spend which has always been the engine of the American economy.
Nobody says all of these unemployed IT people have to try and stay in the
field they could move to others, and in some cases these people are
unemployed because they are screw ups or graduates of the trade schools
holding on to false promises that separated them from there money.

| All of you are missing the point.
The corporations are just following "American Ingenuity" in discovering
that they could have their IT and other help desk work done overseas
without paying the price of domestic employees. There art two driving
factors for this, one being the increase of profits and the other
retaining well trained and motivated workers.
Government has failed when it comes to maintaining a functioning public
education system and enacting legislation that provides a penalty for
exporting jobs whether they are manufacturing, high tech, or service
related. Until our politicians wake up, I do not see much hope for improvement.

| Maybe if they stop purchasing so much Nortel equipment jobs will stay at
home.

| What it jobs there is very little spending in the Computer and telephone
industry . With convergence and voice over IP there will be no distinction
in the field it will be simply data communication. whether voice, video or
plain old data . Whit i find with most so called IT persons is they all
believe they know it all. They will export your job no matter how smart you
think you are. It is cheaper, no benefits , no regulations cut throat
environment. The average help desk person in India makes about 300 US a
month .The question is when unemployment hits double digit who will be on
the line?
Look at the layoff stats in the computer telephone business you maybe next.
