| Hi all
Very many thanks to those who offered ideas to this saga but have now had
some success.
The pc in question had typhoon cordless keyboard and mouse with it, so when
I played this afternoon i used my standard wired k/b and mouse. I
reinstalled win98 but kept oe5 and ie5 while i tried it with the external
Olitec Modem ( I failed to mention I had upped to OE6 etc... sorry bout
that!). Lesson learned!
Hey presto it worked.
Then installed again the typhoon k/b and mouse.... and again the problem
rose. Scoured the net, got different drivers (for winME) and used these.
Guess what??? We now have Internet access.
Again I am very grateful to all who replied ... if any of u are in Cornwall
then let me know and i will buy you a pint and a pasty!!
Piddly reasons for all the hassle and if anyone has explanations I would be
interested to know.
