XP Pro SP1a Rollout Via GP
|
|
|
| Hi Everyone,
I have just added an XP Pro client to my test domain and tried to
install SP1a via GP with no joy. I created an OU called XPClients and added
the machine account to it. I created a GPO in this OU and assigned the
update.msi in the computer configuration node as per usual. Re-booted the
XP client but no joy. I published the Acrobat Reader to the user
configuration node on the same GPO and that appeared in add/remove programs
as it should, which would seem to prove the setup.
I have done this successfully many times with W2k SP's so I am guessing
there is a XP "trick of the trade" which, being a 210 type, I am unaware of.
Anyone care to let me into the secret - or is it a keyboard/chair interface
error?
Thanks,
DJKJ

| Andy,
Thanks for those articles. The last one reminded me to do something I
should have done right at the start, i.e. check the f$3*7ing Event Log!
Sure enough, I have a 1054 Userenv error to troubleshoot.
Regards,
DJKJ
