I see a lot of ads and heard of FOAFs who work
in administering Peoplesoft systems, but can
someone explain to me actually what it is used for?

The jobs seem to be plentiful, is there a certification
or training process to learn this software?

Cheers,

DB

HRIS -- Human Resource Information Systems. A booming area in IT. It's
part of Corporate America's plot to bring about a Stepford Workforce. I
administered Peoplesoft several years ago and it was a piece of crap at that
time. We're talking back in 1996, so maybe they've got it together now. A
lot of big companies use it.

There are Peoplesoft certs
http://www.peoplesoft.com/corp/en/training/index.asp

Consultants can achieve certification by attending PeopleSoft
University training programs and completing associated tests.
Experienced consultants can bypass training and, on successfully
completing the product line certification test, receive the right to
market their skills.

basically good people are worth a fortune, because a bad
implimentation will prob bankrupt your company.

from what I recall..this is an ERP package, this is on the high end of
consulting. Usually, only highly experienced IT people can get this
sort of gig, not a newbie job.......
other ERP vendors are LAWSON, ORACLE, SAP. SAP is considered the
best....LAWSON, PEOPLESOFT are entry level....I've seen LAWSON - not
recommended. Others I've talked to think the same of peoplesoft.....I
guess they would fall in the same bracket as windows......experienced
people know it's a piece of crap...but the general public is clueless.
