| Hi there,
I am looking for advice on IT training. I wish to get into IT support or IT
administration (junior roles). I have a GCSE and A-level in Computing, but
no degree. I would like to obtain MS, Oracle and/or Cisco certifications
and qualifications, but not sure which ones and where to learn and obtain
the qualifications.
I have been in the computer games industry for nearly 7 years and have
learnt a lot during this time. I look after our office's software and
hardware now and the network where I can. My role is varied and I look
after basic accounting and have many years experience in Quality Assurance
in the games industry. I had an interview with a large mobile phone company
for an internal IT support, but was told that I was too good for 1st line
support but not good enough for 2nd line support.
I'm 26 years old and wish to join a large company in any sector that need IT
people. Can anyone get me any advice on training/education?

| Given your experience I would suggest the MCSA over the oracle and cisco
certs. These two are more specific to a certain role and require more
experience in those fields. The MCSA would give you enough over all
foundation to be attractive to employers for IT support. Since you have
your A+, you could do the Comptia certification combo for the MCSA
elective. This means you would take the Net+ or Server + exams then get the
rest of the MCSA certificaitons.
Keep in mind the Win2003 certifications will be released in a couple
months. Although few will be using it off the bat, you will be able to
support Win2K computers equally as well.
Good Luck,
Steve

| Thank you very much Steve.
I'll investigate your suggestions.
