Author NTVDM.exe problems after upgrade

We recently upgraded a win98 pc to win2k - changed the file systems to NTFS.
Everything appeared to go great until we attempted to launch a 16 bit app
and got the following error:

ntvdm cpu has encountered an illegal operation

The options given are to close the app, or ignore the error. Either way,
the app won't work.

Any suggestions? I've searched the knowledge base and didn't come up with
anything that seemed to work.

Thanks,
Ben

Could just be the application. Direct hardware access and all that. What
is it?

That happen to me also. I was trying to load Websters Dictionary after
upgradeing to W2K Pro and received the same error as you did.

I then formated the HD and performed a clean install of W2K. Websters is
working great now.

Cheers,
