| I thought I would do my first mcse test. Ive decided to do 2000 server. How
much study time is this likely to take. Should I allow a month, 6 months etc
to study. I know the basics ie setting up users/ groups, IIs, quotas etc but
not the finer details. How many hours should I allow for study. I want a
good knowledge of the topics not just enough to pass the exam.

|
| depending on experience,,, 20hrs for newbie 5-10hrs for persons that have
had a couple of years of hands on experience, hope this helps

| I self study with experience added. I give myself a two month time frame on
each exam (except for 70-218 did that in a month).
I read the book, usually twice and then the last two weeks go through as
many practise questions as I can find.
You can do it much faster (not sure on the 20 hrs newbie etc track), but
this is the pace I like as I try and have a life too.

| I think if you treat it as you did when you were in school it will be much
easier. Set aside about 1-2 hours an evening to study and in a month go take
it.. Make sure you take some practice tests from some of the good websites
out there and get a good book with practice questions and scenerios.
good luck

| 20 hrs is no where near enough unless you have a tonne of experience.
This is the same thing I did. I give myself two months for each exam. I
read the book twice, then use as many practise tests as I can find. There a
lot of a good free resources out there to help you prepare for the exam. Do
as much hands on experience as you can muster. The practices in the book
are alright however nothing beats just playing around with the different
features on your own.
Good luck!

| Yeah, 215 was MUCH harder than 210. I remember getting a fright on that one,
but using the Sybex book at the DC's at work I passed easily.

If you knows the basics already, then four to six weeks and a good
study guide should be enough if you are willing to put an hour or two
in each day and a few hours on the weekend. Once you get used to the
study and test routine, you can probably cut the time down to four
weeks per test.
Use the practice questions in the study guides as a check if you are
ready or not. Once you feel comfortable with the questions, go for
it.
Here are some ideas for study guides:

Good luck!
