Author test readiness?

Can anyone recommend the best way to determine if I am ready to take any
particular MCSE exam?

I am relatively new to testing. I just graduated college in May. I had two
semesters of a certification preparation classes, but never took the exams
because I didn't have the extra cash. Now that I have been at my job 3
months, they will reimburse me for any tests I pass. The first test I am
planning on taking is 70-270 (Windows XP). I don't have the extra cash to
shell out for the transcender. What do you folks recommend to test myself
to see if I am ready to take this and future tests?

I personally like the sybex book and anything by Mike Minasi. The Exam Cram
books should be good, although I haven't looked at them since Que bought the
series (didn't like the 2K series under the old publisher)

Realizing that money might still be tight, just spend some time in a borders
or barnes and noble. Kick back in their cafe with a cup of java and enjoy
the books. I did this several years ago when I was beginning.

Hope that helps,
Joe
