MCSA & MCSE on Windows 2000 or2003?
|
|
|
| Dear fellow ITs, I am thinking of pursuing MCSA and MCSE starting this
month. I am planning to do an emphasis in Security since I am very
interested in this whole field. My question is, should I take the 2000 path
or the 2003 path? I was thinking of taking 2000 and then upgrade but I
noticed the Security emphasis, there is no simple upgrade plan except to
take the new tests again costing more money. (I think). If anyone who is
knowledgeable in this field can point me to the right direction, I will be
forever thankful.
Thanks in advance!

| You're pretty much right on in your assesment. You can easily upgrade your
MCSE 2000 to MCSE 2003 by taking the 70-292 and 70-296 exams. Specialties
do not upgrade directly and will require the appropriate exams at each
level...so your MCSE: Security on Windows 2000 will not automatically become
an MCSE: Security on Windows Server 2003.
Best,
Will

Actually I did, and am still doing the same path. I had the the following
exams to achieve MCSE 2000 security :
70-210,70-214,70-215,70-216,70-217,70-218,70-220,70-227
now I need to upgrade with 70-292 and 70-296 to 2003 platform
I already did the 71-298 (beta)
and next week will be doing the 71-299(beta). IF
I manage to pass all of them I will be MCSE 2003 Security.
This way it will cost 12 exams and I will have 9 certificates.
pretty impressive :-)
