Author Exchange 5.5 OWA question

Hi all,
We had to reinstall IIS which wiped out our OWA for Exchange 5.5.
Can I just re-install it from the CD again and apply the patch afterwards?
How do I re-install it from the CD.
Is there a re-install option?
I just want to make sure that I don't mess up the existing Exchange
installation because it is on the same server.
I appreciate it.
Thanks,
Al

Hi

We have our's on a separate server, and i remember looking on Technet when i
had to re-install it recently.

I believe it's in a separate directory on the cd.

Sorry can't be too much help.

Yes, you can re-install it. Exchange 5.5 OWA could be separated from the
Mailbox server. You just need to put in the Exchange 5.5 cd and run setup.
Choose custom setup, and there should be an option to install Web Access.
Afterwards, make sure you apply the Exchange Service pack to the same level
as your mailbox server.

You really need to check TechNet for the details. We have ours on a
separate box, too, but I remember you simply use the Ex5.5 CD and follow the
prompts. You will get to the section where it asks what you want to
install. Uncheck everything except OWA and continue from there. The only
thing I can think that might be an issue is if your box thinks OWA is still
installed. Hopefully the install would just write over any existing files
and work normally. You will need to re-install service pack as well. Be
sure you have backups of .priv, .pub, and .dir so you can restore your
Exchange box if things go south.....
Good luck.

I cannot afford to mess up the priv and pub store that is why I need the
correct steps to do it.
Do you think unchecking everything except OWA will not uninstall other
Exchange modules?
thanks,
Al

Please consult technet... you will gather lots of unverified advise here,
then when things go wrong, you'll return and try and pass the blame. When
working on something thats so important always use official support.

It should be ok to just re-install OWA, it does not
mess with the Priv or PUB really.
Just make sure you just lick owa and re-install the patches.
