How much detail are you looking for? The selection of a book to use as a
study guide depends on what you want to accomplish. If you want a good shot
at passing the AD Network Infrastructure exam, then pretty much any
publisher's book will do the job. In terms of lots of detail, my experience
has been that you can't beat the Microsoft Press book for any particular
exam.

I myself used the New Riders/Que Certification book as well as some research
material from Microsoft, and I passed the exam easily.

Book: MCSE Training Guide: Windows 2000 Directory Services Infrastructure,
First Edition, New Riders Publishing, ISBN 0-7357-0976-9

Research Material: Do a Google search for "Active Directory" while limiting
the domain scope to microsoft.com.

Best of luck,

srb

Not needed for passing 70-217, go through the MOC, download some tests and
read good abstracts, for example from Troy Technologies

Like Mr Mac, I too used the New Riders training guide as my main study
reference, backed up by the Mike Meyers passport series and relevant
chapters from "Mastering Windows 2000 Server". This is the 3rd New Riders
book I have used and I was quite happy with it. The passport series book
was a bit of an experiment. I just read through it from start to finish as
a final revision guide during the last few days before the exam. It served
my purpose but, by it's own admission, only covers the exam objectives and I
would not recommend it for use on it's own. The copy I had could also have
benefited from another proof read as there were some horrendous typos. Good
luck with the study but don't sweat it too much - I found the exam itself to
be a bit of a dissapointment!

I liked the exam cram book for that one.
The writer for that book is very good and I found the material, as he
presented it, quite interesting.
Nice to see a good technical writer once in a while.
