Hi everyone,
A problem with kids saving their assignments to hard drives
instead of what I want them to save to, the floppy drive. They're clogging
up space on the hard drives. The computers they use MSoffice on are
networked up to win 2000 server. Is there anyway I can get them to save only
to the A: drive on their computers.(No use telling them!!) I've heard only
about system policies for permissions etc..Can you help me on this one.

Thanks

MOUS Tutor.

Non-use of the floppy to save HDD space?

How about using quota? That way u won't run out of space. And when they have
maxed out their quota, they will get the message and goto A: drive.

Try one of the following:

Set Disk quotas on your hard drive's volume(s). Set the deny disk space to
users exceeding their limits check box.
Modify the NTFS permissions of the drive so that they don't have permission
to save on it.
Use Group Policy. (From active directory users and computers or GPEDIT.MSC)

Hmmm... if they're clogging up HD space, saving to floppy disks isn't going
help you...but a thousand or so floppies might
Unless someone has changed the default:
File->Save for MS office 2k is the "My Documents" folder on a 2k pro
system...
Right click on "My Documents" folder on the desktop
Select Properties from the menu
Type A:\ in the Target textbox in the Target Folder Location section of the
"My Documents" Properties dialog box
NOTE: you must have a floppy in the drive to do this, select yes or no if
you want to move the contents of
the "My Documents" folder to the floppy
Use permissions to prevent the users from saving to a physical or logical
drive either local or
remote(ie. network share)

For a small fee, and of course free travel to Ireland I will set this up for
you if needed <--just kidding m8
hope this helps...
