MCSE 2000 training options?
|

| Good day!!
I am considering obtaining my MCSE 2000 certification. I have been
contacted by a company who offers computer based training (at a price
that seems "to good to be true"); which I can complete at my leisure
(should take 31 weeks according to thier people). Any one care to
recommend alternate training paths or give me some pearls of wisdom?
Thanks for your insight.
Regards,
Caleb.
Those people who don't read have no advantage over those who can't.
please reply to newsgroup. Thanx

| are you good at studying youself meaning self study?
If you are then just buy study guides for MCSE and study in you own home LAB
it will take about 5 monthes from scratch to do MCSE with no previous
knowledge of windows 2000 thats how I did it...
But if you are not slef study person go for classes and expensive choice...
Good luck

| I bought the Microsoft press books at bokpool.com for 120$ includes
shipping. I have a AAS degree in Networking work as a tech. Going over the
210 book quickly. it comes with practice tests and I have downloaded so many
testing software off the p2p I have lost them somewhere on my system!!But I
feel comfy this way since I have been to school for 4.0.. The instructors
hid in the back of the room or were so mean and IT snooty. But got a good
idea about networks and OS by going to school so this should not be to hard.
There is allot more to networks than what Microsoft teaches, lot of theory.I
say there is no short cut to the holy grail!!!

| All of these training courses are really quite a load of crap.
Really. There are very few that will have your best interest at
anywhere near an acceptable level. I have found one place locally, in
Indianapolis. They allow you to retake the class as many times as you
like, once you pay for it. They use Microsoft Official Curriculm and
all. If you find somewhere like that, it may be worth it.
If someone else is paying for it, by all means, take the courses.
Otherwise it is a waste of money. You could buy the books, some CBTs
and some computers for less than what you will get charged, and you
get to keep the computers when you are done. Most places I see are
between $6,000 and $10,000 USD. With Dell's deals, you could buy 3
full computers, with monitors, and a couple of box sets of books for
about $2200 USD. Find yourself a buddy who is already an MCSE, or
would like to be, that really knows his/her stuff and bounce questions
off them and study together.
I paid for some training. It was horrible. It cost about $10,000
USD, but they accepted financial aid, so I only paid $6,000. Our
instructors would just sit there and blab on about building computers
for family members, or there home Internet connection, or the newest
computer game. It got to the point where we just started playing
Unreal Tournament every day, all day, in class. I was my only reason
for passing, it was just like self-study for me. Hell, the only thing
that class did for me was motivate me to pass because of how much
money I would be wasting if I didn't pass.
