| How do you allow domain users in a Windows 2000 domain to use the Windows
Media Player to listen to various websites' music? Currently, users can open
WMP, but there it isn't connecting to WindowsMedia.com. If they visit the
site by typing in the URL they can get there, but can't listen to anything
because they just get an error message when they try to access a link to
streaming media.

| Sounds like theres a firewall config in place...
Maybe WMP uses a non-standard port to stream the audio, and that port is
blocked by the firewall.

| Sorry, I hit "SEND" too soon...it's late...
What I was going to say is how would it work for the administrator account?
Because when the admin account is logged on, everything works perfectly.
That is why I think it's not the firewall, but some security policy.

| You need to grant write access to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{203b1
eed-db9f-40fb-87bd-1990982017d2}\Plugins. You
can do this manually by using Regedit OR for large-scale deployment, use a
policy or Regini.exe.
That is the solution, if the error message is: ACCESS DENIED, when the user
is not the administrator.

| "Unable to connect to Network." However, no errors occur when logging on as
admin. Even doing a "run as" the local admin, things work. I added the user
to the local admins group and it still did not work, which is really weird.

| Try to change the protocols media player uses for streaming. Disable UDP for
example.. tweak around those settings and see if any of those works. I'd try
to Disable UDP first, so it uses TCP which obviously works since they can
access the web.
