am i right in thinking that you cannot use IPsec along with PPTP? even
though you can with L2TP?

if so and u couldnt use IPsec at all is PPTP secure without it? if not is
L2TP secure without it?

PPTP use's mppe (Microsoft's point to point encryption)
L2TP use's IPSEC ( internet protocol security)

Only use L2TP with ipsec with win2000 server's.

Server's with winnt use PPTP/ mppe.

L2TP/IPSEC is much stronger because it changes the packet at layer 3, IPSEC
has an AH (authentication headers) and ESP (encapsulating security payloads)

This protocol provides authentication ,integrity and anti -replay
protection.

PPTP do'sent come close,
