problem with DNS in adding new DC

| I have upgrade NT to 2k .after I have upgrade PDC
It asked me to install DNS .As I have read in ms docs
I leted it install DNS and It asked me for creat new zone.
I gave the NT domain zone name and got an error after
some minutes .It said couldnt creat the zone becouse the
zone is already exist .then it said It has installed DNS
anyway .
THe problem is :
the users could see the DNS and use it but when I try to
add another DC in to this mix mode domain it said it
couldent attached to DNS but it could see the domain.com.
I tried to connect it by BDCs but they could not see it either .
I removed and installed DNS again and creat new zone, (same name)
but again I couldn`t see it during dcpromo process .
any idea ?
will it makes problem during other bdc`s upgrade ? is it
becouse it is in mix mode ?

| Talk about how to kill your domain before you've even started!
1. Run DCPROMO and remove the domain controllers.
2. Delete all dns zones.
3. Run DCPROMO and let it create your zone file and your SRV records.

| Make sure when you are adding the new servers that they are pointing to the
DNS running on your 2000 DC. If its pointing to a NT4.0 DNS machine it
won't see the special DNS entries that define which machines are domain
controllers (msdcs I think they are called) and won't be able to join the
domain.
If you can just create a new primary zone for your 2000 domain and migrate
your winnt machines into it. You can host both DNS Zones on the DNS
servers. Its kind of a pain to have 2 seperate domains but its nice to have
a cherry 2000 domain and move machines into it as you upgrade them.
