Jimmy, your best deal by far is the local community college. You will hear
a lot of people tell you otherwise, but you will likely find that they are
commission driven. As an example, the community college where I teach
provides students with the following:

1. Courses that are taught over a 72 hour format (as opposed to the 32.5
hour format utilized by most of the CTECs).
2. Access to all kinds of Microsoft software at no cost through the
Microsoft Academic Alliance Program.
3. A cost of $33 per class for California residents.
4. Academic credit (3 units per course), that transfers to the California
State University system.

So, rather than pay the high prices associated with the commercial training
centers, I'd look closely at what your local community college has to offer.
And don't fall for the claim that it takes too long to get trained through a
community college. If you really want to learn it takes time. If all you
want is the "paper," then go and spend your 5-days in one of those CTEC
courses.
