Author Software Deployment using GPOs

Hi All,

I currently have one computer setup as a win2k server DC and another
win2k as a member server. (terminal services is also installed)

I tried deploying(publishing) the adminpak.msi file in my domain, and
it seem to work fine, however I'm having no luck 'assigning' office
2000 premium in my domain.

I used the "data1.msi" file and it's off a share point that's on my
DC, I tried logging into my member server computer and it doesn't run
the setup.

I've used Marks book 'mastering win2k server" as a reference and
followed it pretty closely.

any thing else I should try? I've read in the MS KB that running
Terminal services causes problems?

Is terminal server in application mode, if yes it could be the problem.
Please give more info. Where is the GPO link to, did you check read and
apply group policy permission, is there a user in the container where you
publish the sofware (it will only publish to users and not group) etc....

it's in remote admin mode,

the authenticated users have the group policy apply check mark, which
I assume will apply to all users.. read and apply is checked off

I have a home.com domain

i right click it properties, make a new GPO, basically did the same
thing as when I deployed the adminpak.msi but this time it's
*assigned* not published..

what do you mean by " is there a user in the container where you
publish the sofware "?

actually I just tested it, when I log in locally right at the DC
computer, it deploys fine, but when I log in physically at another
computer (setup as 2k member server) using the same account and
password, I don't see the application

If you assign it to computers move the computer to the container where the
GPO is linked. I have never tried if a default domain policy will apply to
the computer folder (which is not an OU), I always try to move the computer
within the OU where the users are located in a sub-OU
Give that a try
