| Hi all,
I have a dual boot laptop with Win98SE and ML 8.2.
Everything except the sound driver works fine. The system
detects the Maestro 2E pci device (lspci -v), but at the
boot time, the ALSA driver 'snd-card-es1968' is loaded
instead of the 'maestro' driver that I have specified in the
/etc/modules.conf file. I see the following message:
'insmod: /lib/modules/2.4.18-6mdk/kernel/drivers/sound/maestro.o.gz:
init_module: No such device'
Then, I tried removing the modules manually (using rmmod) and
reinserting maestro driver with the soundcore. That works fine,
however, I hear nothing but static glitches when I increase the
volume in aumix or play something with the 'play' program.
One last bit of information. Incidentally, this machine executes
a 'maestro.com' program at DOS level for sound to work in
Win98SE during the boot time. I use loadlin, and the batch
file (linux.bat) that loads the linux kernel from DOS did not
explicitly run this 'maestro.com' program. Changes to make
it run 'maestro.com' did not make any difference.
Any help/insights/resource links are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Emre.
