Author slackware 8.1 ISO > 650 MB?

Downloaded the Intel ISO the other day, and Nero won't burn it to a regular
CDR. It's larger than 650 MB, do I really have to go out and buy those
bigger CDR's, which I don't like, or is there a smaller ISO available. I
don't need any Gnome or KDE stuff, so this must be possible! Anyone?

Where i come from 700M CDR is the standard.

Just download the files you need from the slack ftp server and then make
them into an
ISO if you wish, either
A) Using mkisofs; or
B) Using Windows WinImage....
Note: I doubt that the CD will be bootable if u do this

I only ever purchase 80 minute disks, sometimes they are cheaper than the
standard 74 minute disks.

I think you'll find that's because you downloaded the 'unnofficial' ISO.
The 'official' one left off less important/less used packages so that it
would still fit on a 650Mb CD.
[I think some boot/root disks were omitted from the 'official' ISO]
