Anyone know where I can get the Acrobat Reader for Linux? I went to the
Adobe site and they say the reader for Linux is not available, at least in
English.

Thanks. Please reply here and to my e-mail address, if possible.

The say, where, what kind of drugs are you using?

Anyway, thx for reminding me, just downloaded 5.0.0, it seems to
run better as 4.x from the first view...;-)

There's only an english version of 'Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 for Linux'
available.

Ahh, probably checked the box that says something like, "Download the
version that has searching capability." That will give you the not
avilable message.

You don't need it. Just use xpdf. It should be included in your
distribution and may already be installed.

I'll second that. The latest version of xpdf renders type 3 fonts better
than Acrobat (which deliberately fuzzes them) and it loads far more
quickly.

If you make that the application that handles pdf files, can you save
the file after that? That's the reason I didn't like it before.

Right-click the mouse on the window and a menu comes up allowing you to
"Save as ..."

You don't even need xpdf - although it is fine, and consuming
much less diskspace than acroread -. I'm having no problems
whatsoever viewing PDFs just like PS files in gv.

Hello:

xpdf is usually OK, but I've found that certain PDF files will cause
xpdf to segfault when you attempt to open them. Adobe has finally come
up with an updated version of Acrobat Reader, 5.05 (the previous
version, 4.05 was a piece of crap.) All you have to do is go to Adobe's
website and follow the links.

I have to add my vote for xpdf - haven't had a problem with it and
it renders very nicely and quickly.
