when i use modprobe i get this:
Using /lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/drivers/char/agp/agpgart.o
/lib/modules/2.4.18/kernel/drivers/char/agp/agpgart.o: init_module: No such
device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including
invalid IO or IRQ parameters

i searched google, but couldnt make sense of any of it, I'm a newbie, so i
appologize if this is a dumb question.

It looks like you're trying to load the agpgart.o module, why are you
modprobing it? or does this occur when you're booting up your machine? The
agpgart module only supports a very limited set of graphics cards at the
moment - so you probably don't want to be loading it.
