It's because you always make some kind of mistake.

Peter

(try again, without using words like "always", "never", "will", and you
will sound less like a petulant child and more like an adult ready to
accept responsibility for /their/ system. I suggest "I have installed
RH 8.0 on my XYZ, but I have not succeeded in configuring the gui
correctly - I say this because ..... results in ... error. Can you
let me know the procedure for starting the GUI configuration process
anew? Thank you")

Sure, any advanced lurker on aol, will be able to exactly point out the
problem. Just wait a few minutes. Never post any real data, it's not
needed, people will "see" your error messages right through the
internet.

Honestly, enter CTRL-ALT-F1, login from CLI as root, 'init 3' and
'startx >& startx.out', post the content of startx.out.

Uh-oh -- it's another "some kind of error" error.

Must be some kind of problem.

Want better, more specific advice? Post better, more specific information.

It might be the mouse.
It might be the video card.

It could even be that RH stuffed up during the install.
