changing primary HDD
|
|
|
| Hi,
Everything is working fine the way it is now -
Primay Master HDD (4G) Win98se (partioned into C: , D
Primary Slave ASUS CD-RW
Second Master HDD (40G) RedHat 7.2
Secondary Slave LG CD-ROM
the bootloader (grub) is working fine. I have a grub boot disk and it works
perfectly fine.
I need to change my Primary Master to a larger drive. Would it be OK if i :
1. disconnected the Priary Master (4G) drive and replaced it with another
hard-disk and installed win98se on it again
2. booted off the grub floppy into linux
3. ran the command 'grub-install /dev/hda'
Would i need to maintain 2 partitions on the new HDD or would be OK to have
say 3 or 4 partitions ?
thx in advance
gamin.

Seems fine. The devices that Linux is stored on will not change so there
should not be a problem.

Not sure what you mean here. You can partition your primary drive in to as
many logical partitions you want. Linux will see all the partitions but
will only use the ones you tell it to.
