"X-Newsreader: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2800.1106"

Funny how someone selling and promoting Linux is using Outlook Express 6 to
post news...

Thats a hard one. Ever hear of a dual boot system? ever hear of someone
actually having more than one PC? And I prefer to try and provide a service
rather than the sale side or I wouldnt have bothered with an FTP server in
the first place. Yes I admit I'm not a complete Linux techie that knows
everything, quite to the contrary Im a beginner to such matters but wasnt we
all at one time? Im sorry if I offended you for using Outlook but then again
I dont really spend my time looking at headers to messages but rather read
the actual topic content as that usually provides more information along the
lines Im looking for.
yes I also tried recently to get everything running using Redhat 8.0 but ran
into some problems trying to set up FTP access so being used to the Windows
side decided to base it with that while I try and get things running Linux
side instead as i am told it would be more stable when I do.
So rather than critise maybe a little help wouldnt go amiss if your so clued
up?

He did try to help you. You took offense instead. His points are good ones.
Outlook Express is a security disaster, and it top-posts by default (as do
you).

Linux_man? You should adopt a new handle -- "in-between man".

Freedom of choice on which newsreader to use is a great thing. Surely you
can't be advocating Linux and denying someone their choice of newsreader ?

Billy

(Yes it's OE)

There is a practical angle to this. OE cannot be made to bottom-post. Users
have to hand-edit their posts to make this happen. That pretty much says
all I need to know about OE. It isn't a simple matter of choice, it is
about broken code.

It isn't really that difficult to press ctrl-end before starting to type,
it's more a matter of user education than broken code.

If the program insists on making you correct its egregious errors every day
24/7, it is broken code.

It is more about "eating your own dog food".
Why would I trust you or your offering if you can't even be bothered
to use what you preach?
Think about it, it is like the proverbial preachers who preach water and
drink wine.

Interesting point, I have noticed that when using Pan there is no default
insertion point on pressing F to post a reply to an NG. No doubt this is
broken code also ?
