Well, google is a good choice ("what_you_want HOWTO" works more often
than not) , as is your distributions web site (note to total newbs:
Linux comes in sevral flavors or distributions, the Mandrake
or Red Hat are generally what's recommended when starting out).
Another nice way to learn is to get a Linux book or 2 out of the library,
but it's by no means essential.
Note2: When I say google I mean google _and_ google groupes.
If all else failes, then you can always ask the newsgroupe, where people
will be happy to help you out.
Hope this helps

Now, now! :-). No hoof stomping, please!
Possibly "a random book on linux form your bookshop". For specific
topics, http://www.linuxnewbie.org/, and of course everything on the
ldp (for which he can google, as a nod in the direction of his
hoofship).

Absolutely! And it gets better with each revision. I think Paul Sheer has
created a formible threat to his own masterpiece (CoolEdit/CoolIcon). And
I'd also strongly suggest that one heed the opening recommendation to treat
it as a curriculum. I thought it worked quite well as such!
Wonder how many distros include it by default?

Yup, I noticed. :-)
