pppoe with kernel plugin

| I want to try to use the ppp package (ppp.samba.org) and the pppoe kernel
plugin to connect to my adsl provider, but I havn't got it working.
When I tried to use a patched ppp 2.4.1 (wasn't me that pathed it - found it
on a webpage(can't remember which) with a manual - didn't got the patch to
work myself) I got this output in my system log:
Oct 7 23:57:21 zoo pppd[7091]: Plugin /usr/lib/pppd/2.4.1/pppoe.so loaded.

After what I have learned, it's not modules either what is mentioned there.
I also tried to compile a cvs extract from cvs.samba.org/ppp (what should be
2.4.2 (who got the pppoe plugin included)), but I got some error messages.
Don't remember what it was right now, but if anybody can tell me that they
have compiled ppp from the current cvs-tree, i can try to compile again and
see what error messages it was.
Now I use roaring penguing, but I want to try ppp and the kernel plugin.
If somebody could help me, I would appreciate it.

As I said, it is Roaring Penguin I'm using now, but I want to try to get ppp
