Fetchmail is started via xinetd, as is postfix. But no matter where I stick
..procmailrc it is not invoked.

You might need a .forward in you home directory reading:

"|exec /usr/bin/procmail"

(include double quotes) Most of my procmail info comes from Nancy McGoughs
Procmail quick-start page: http://www.ii.com/internet/robots/procmail/qs/
See the relevant "setting up your .forward file..." section.

Thnaks for the response Micheal,

I've pretty much got everything working exept for this baby...

This came from /home/user/tmp/procmail/log

sendmail: warning: the Postfix sendmail command has set-uid root file
permissions sendmail: warning: or the command is run from a set-uid root
process sendmail: warning: the Postfix sendmail command must be installed
without set-uid root file permissions

I'm going for a beer soon - been at this all day now.
I've pretty much got everything else working ok.

I'll buy u a beer if you can shed some light on how I can fix this.

cheers

..procmailrc should be in your home directory.

Well, is sendmail indeed setuid root?

If so, does it have to be for some specific reason on your
system? If it is, and you don't know why, I'd suggest

'chmod -s /usr/sbin/sendmail'

to start out with.

Next question, under which account is postfix running? You should
presumably have a postfix user on the system and not run postfix as
root.

As for .procmailrc, I don't think you explicitly need to invoke it
with a .forward file with postfix, isn't there a config setting to by
default pipe everything off to procmail for all users?

hth.
