Shutting down problem on Red Hat 7.2
|
|
|
| Hi all.
This is my problem:
I'm using Red Hat 7.2 and I've a problem shutting down the system: I cannot
see the messages which indicate the services that are shutting down. This
happens if I shut down the system from a graphical terminal. However, if I
use "shutdown -h now" from any of the other consoles (Ctrl+Alt+{F1,...,F6})
I
can see them (e.g: Shutting down crond, lpd, ...).
Hope you can help me.
Jose.

Try hitting the Ctrl/Alt/Fx keys, it should be on one terminal or another.

Do you think I'm rude, or don't you understand my answers? Read this page
[http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/faqs/sma...ions.html#intro] and you'll
understand. You'll also see that I'm not rude in this
(http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/faqs/sma...tions.html#rtfm) section.

function-keys are always dependend on the window manager one uses,
and/or how they are configurated. You can executed the halt command from
a shell-window screen. And you can also put in an icon or on the
taskbalk. Gnome has that already.
The halt command if chmodded as 755 being executed by any user, it is in
the /sbin directory though.
suc6, that is pronounced success in dutch
