moving panes into rooms/desk tops && such RH7.2

| Hi Folks.
I hope I can explain this.
I installed a RH 7.2 workstation with "gnome" as the default desktop
and I see that there are nautilus, sawfish, and gnome processes
running.
Prior RH X managers (6.2,7.1) has what SGI UNIX use to
refer to as "rooms" and "windows" ... The rooms are where
you run various X sessions like telnet/rsh. Now Linux X refers sessions as
as panes and rooms as desktops if I follow the theory of the online help
documentation.
My problem(s) are :
1. I can't move (drag) sessions (panes ?) from 1 desktop/room to another
at all ...
regardless which desk top I'm in holding the center mouse button, or
from the control
banner . I can move the session around the (current focus) desktop
however.
2. I have to click to jump from 1 desktop to another on the control panel
icon .
desktop focus does not follow the mouse.
I've been through the various config menus and read the help pages but I
can't seem to
get my desktop working like 7.1.
Any help is welcomed.

| Gee - didn't seem to help.
I can't get from one "room" to another without clicking on the pane
on the bottom control panel,
and I can't move processes ( like telnet ) from one pane to another.
Could you be a bit more specific please ?
