The following message was sent to this loser's ISP. They don't have an
abuse email address address that we can send to, but the DO have a web-based
form that you can fill out at
http://www.tiscali.co.uk/aboutus/co...ali/abuse.html. I encourage
everyone to inundate Tiscali with complaints about this loser.

An individual has been posting dozens of profane and abusive messages each
day to technical newsgroups through access.uk.tiscali.com. He/she does not
post using his own name. Rather, he impersonates one of the technical
people who normally utilize these groups for information exchange. Today
he's impersonating me. We are all finding this annoying and frustrating,
and would appreciate it if you would put a stop to his shenanigans. Header
information from one of his recent posts follows:

Correction to myself: The abuse email address for Tiscali is
abuse@uk.tiscali.com

If you send them something, be sure to include the header information. It
may also be helpful to be able to cite which section(s) of Tiscali's
Acceptable Use Policy is/are being violated. The following is Section 5 of
that policy, and pertains to newsgroup abuse. Our spammer's commonest
violations are 5-a-i, 5-a-ii, 5-a-iii and 5-a-vi:

5. Chat, Newsgroups and Forums

When using chat, newsgroups and forums (including Tiscali ones):

a. You must not: i. send messages that cause distress, anxiety or harm to
another person or constitute a criminal offence
ii. send messages that contain abusive, offensive or illegal content
iii. send messages that are inappropriate to the room topic
iv. send mass messages or mass invites
v. post messages that infringe third party intellectual property rights or
otherwise violate or infringe the rights of any third party
vi. attempt to conceal your identity or impersonate any individual or
organisation
vii. connect to the Tiscali chat server more than three times simultaneously
using one connection
viii. make an identical posting to more than two forums (multi-posting)
b. You must not engage in unsolicited advertising in the chat rooms
c. General Chat Room Guidelines:
i. Do not type personal information into public channels
ii. Do not give your password to anyone
d. General Newsgroup and Forum Guidelines:
i. Do not hijack a thread by repeatedly adding postings designed to draw the
readers' attention to separate forum, thread, site or issue
ii. Do not post unsolicited bulk postings or 'spam'
iiii. Do not continue a thread which has previously been deleted by Tiscali
Forum Moderators or Tiscali staff, unless it is with prior permission from
the Community Team
e. Tiscali reserves the right to terminate your connection to a Tiscali chat
service or a Tiscali owned newsgroup or forum.

In article <fDf19.29065$vN6.1442754@newsfep2-win.server.ntli.net>,
father Christmas decided to open his mouth and remove all doubt by
saying...

> You just don't learn do you ?

I'm done fighting you (as are many people in here, you'll notice you
only get the new guys involved in rounds with you anymore). I've done my
good deeds...just helping out a lesser informed chap.

I really can't understand your motivation in all this. If you want some
certification help, I'd be glad to offer my 2 cents, but as far as your
vendetta in here, I am at a loss as to what drives you.

Maybe I'm just getting a thicker skin, but your antics aren't nearly as
humorous as they used to be. You seem to have a knack for finding stuff
on the web. Maybe you could post a joke a day to this newsgroup, or find
an interesting link to share with everyone.

You'd be surprised how quickly your popularity would change if you
started being funny instead of bitter. Almost everyone starting out in
USENET started as a troll, nothing to be ashamed of, just the facts.
Most of these people then start offering something: advice, humor, news,
commentary, etc, and then their public opinion rises.

Since you seem determined to avoid the killfile (I do admire your
persistence in this) maybe you could start playing nice. Who knows,
father Christmas (or some other incarnation) could end up becoming a
loved and admired member of these forums!

Peace.

Yeah, I admit that I got pissed at first, but then it just got humorous;
now it's just an old gag. Like I said, I think you'll get more laughs by
posting a link a day or a joke or something.

As to guys hacking you...don't be so sure that they can't touch you. If
you are using a standard install of 98, 2K, or XP you are VERY
vulnerable! Personally I am not a hacker, but I do stay informed.
www.grc.com is a good site for internet security. The site's author,
Steve Gibson, is a hardcore assembly language programmer and security
expert, and he even got knocked off the internet:
http://grc.com/dos/grcdos.htm

Sure the average guy in here may not even know how to read a header
(which you have helped educate many about), but it only takes one guy
with a vendetta to unleash a DDoS on you. So far you've been lucky, but
if you tork off the wrong person, they will do more than tattle to your
ISP.

The fact that I am giving you this heads up, and the links to help
should prove that I don't want to fight. I am trying to help you step
over to the light side of the force (hey if Darth Vader could be turned,
there is hope for you).

The reason he got knocked of the Intenet was he failed to install the latest
security patches for his router.......how smart is that?
His site gives you all kind of information on pc security and the
importance of using microsoft updates (security patches)
and to run firewalls....but he forgets to keep his router up to date.

Actually it sounded like he blew the whole thing out of proportion.
His firewall check is nothing more than a simple ping, btw.
