| Step by step how to use Xnews score file to killfile based on Message ID.
Having absolutely nothing better to do on a Saturday morning I decided to
investigate how to killfile in Xnews based on where a message originated.
Below is what I found out about how to use the score.ini file to do just
that, using "totally random" (ahem) entries to illustrate what I've done.
I went with score.ini, since the easier to use "plonk" only works on the
"From" entry, which can change from day to day or even hour to hour.
Go into the special menu and choose "edit score file" which should bring
up the score.ini file in notepad.

The [mcse] and [certification] are examples of regular expressions for
the groups I want the score file to apply to. They'll match any newsgroup
containing the string mcse or certification. Likewise uk.worldonline.com
for the Message-IDs I want filtered. IOW, if the Message-ID header line
contains "uk.worldonline.com" I want to killfile the message.
Once you've saved your new score.ini file, test your settings by going
to the "special" menu and putting a check mark by "Enable scoring"
then click "reload score file" and "rescore this window"
That will put a red X by all the scored messages. If you're satisfied
with the way you've built the score.ini go back to the special menu and
put a check by "Hard Kill"
Voila! no more you-know-who.
