Author Self-Study VS. In-Class???
Tanya

With regard to the new, i-Net+2002 exam (IKO-002)... Can anyone recommend a
good, 'self-study' book/materials for this??? I've been calling around to
the various, technical training schools in my city, and- to take the actual
class, the cheapest I've been able to find is about $1,500.00... SO- am now
considering going the 'self-study' route; only, I don't know a good
source/vendor for getting the needed books/study materials in order to learn
and actually pass the exam!

Any recommendations will greatly be appreciated!

I have the perfect book for you. It was just released last month, covers the
new exam, and it was technically edited by yours truly.
It's the iNet+ Sybex book and the ISBN is 0782140289. The best price for
most books is online at www.BookPool.com
Good luck!

What's on the new test as I've been studying for the old one? Any problems
with transitioning?

The objectives were updated with newer technologies and question types. The
best thing to do is review the objectives at the www.CompTIA.com web site
and make sure you are comfortable with all of them.

Thanks. One thing they weren't clear on: When they retire the test at the
end of May, will the IKO-001 Cert be worth as much if you pass that one? In
other words, I know it is probably better to take the newer one, but what
harm will there be to pass the old one instead?

I don't think there's any reason to always have the latest exam under your
belt. Sure technology changes at the speed of light but with this particular
exam/certification, the foundation is there when you have passed any
"version" of the exam.

Hi. I sure hope you're right there, Andy. I'm taking the exam at May 16th.
Hopefully with success. I guess it will be, since I've now been studying for
three weeks, have 77% as my worst and 91% as my best result on practice
exams (5 exams). AND I have still got daily active studies in my class
untill the exam. I recommend you dowloading Testmaster (tm.zip) from my FTP
site:
ftp://mlm-heaven.com
If you have any relevant software to share, please upload to the incoming
folder located at that site, as that folder have full access for anonymous
users. Wish me luck on May 16th :-)

Good luck to you to Steven, and Andy, if you're taking the exam.

Greets from Norway,
Borge Alvestad,
Webmaster student.
(Going for i-Net+, A+, ACE and CIW)

Hi Tanya:

Self-study is a good way to go for this cert. You may wish to get a copy of
Joseph A. Bryne's "i-Net+ Certification Study System." Moreover, for $99 per
year you can access i-Net+-related training modules at
http://training.beginners.co.uk/ .

Good luck!

Tony
