I passed Server+ yesterday. It was the toughest CompTIA exam I've had yet.
Infinitely so!!! I would compare it with the Microsoft TCP/IP. I have worked
with SCSI and Server technologies since LM, Artisoft2, NW2, etc. Before
that, I was a mainframe mechanic. So I've worked with ICR (aka clustering),
S100 (fore runner of SCSI) bussed technologies, I have implemented RAID in
the 0, 1, and 5 levels. I've built hundreds of servers.
Looking back, there were a few questions, that I changed, that I wish I
hadn't. Also, I don't feel that any material I used would have adequately
prepared me for a good grade. It was a genuine thinking exam, and very
experienced based. Oh well, on to XP, another day another Windows.

Congrats! I also took and passed my Server+ test yesterday and was thinking
the same thing as you. One tough test.

Mike,

Congratulations, and thanks for the feedback, it's nice to know there are
exams that make you think, and not just memorize the answers.

Cheers,

Not a lot, I have done all these in the last six months, for much the same
reason as you, a lot of experience but nothing that says I really know what
I am doing I am going for MCSE and Server + in the next few weeks then I
will relax for a while and admire the wallpaper. I also have a contract
renewal coming up in about 18 months that will be tough and I anticipate I
will be up against people a lot younger with Certification, so I thought,
why not do it myself. As to earnings, if you want to discuss in private ?
but the Certs won't change anything, might help me keep a job though
