Author Well, I passed and here's how I did it.

I sat thru Mike Meyers Network+ CD's by Learnkey taking notes all the
way through. After each session completed I would do only the Lab
questions. Then after finishing all sessions, I went thru them a
second time but without having to pause the CD's for note taking, just
absorbing the information. After each session I then took the session
test.

After this, I bought Mike's Total Tester Network+ Premium Exam and went
through all 600 questions. I did 60 a day for 10 days. During this
time I would be reading Cramsession's Network+ Study Guide which is
tremendously helpful. Once the 10 days of exam simulation and reading
was up, I took the test 2 days later.

All in all its not such a difficult exam. Received a decent score but
not fabulous nor terrible. Hey, I hadn't the slightest clue of what
networking entailed before buying the CD's. Gotta give it up to Mike
Meyers and Cramsession.

Now its time to tackle the MCDST.

Good work, wasnt tough for me either, but the test can be variable. I have a
question, not knowing your experience, How much do you feel you actually
learned from a real world standpoint.?

Btw if you're interesting I use Mike Meyer's All in one, exam cram's i-net+
and the Sybex Virtual training center. I do, and did have a fair amount of
experience as well

Thanx IMHOTech,

to answer your question. I felt I learned a lot. Although I hadn't
any clue to how Networking actually worked prior to studying, I did
have experience in PC's (building, upgrading, troubleshooting). Also, I
should have mentioned that I took about 3 months from the time I got
the CD's to the time I tested.

I recently used what I learned in the Network CD's to help out a friend
who has 3 PC's networked (2 XP's and a Win98) but couldn't gain access
to the internet thru their Belkin router. We went through it all,
pinging the loopback, pinging the router, releasing/renewing. And what
do you know, he was back online. He even thought the internet was
faster, but I know it wasn't, it just seemed that way to him. Anyway,
I also realized that there is a lot of crossover information with the
other certs such as A+, WinXP 70-270, and 271.

This time around Im using CBT nuggets for my MCDST. I am also going to
buy examcram's MCDST books.

I agree. You need a book and a test simulator to be successful.
