3 semesters of networking?

| my school(NYCTC) offers 3 semesters of networking,
Win2000, TCP/IP, OSI, etc.
The text books are very expensive for each class, $120 etc.
they use the 'LANs, Behrouz A. Forouzan (2003)' text.
I found it too technical and confusing.
I am interested in taking the network+ after A+,
but is that too much?
should I go for a network+ class for $299 and just get
the Mike Myers book instead?

| In my opinion: get both the Meyers book and the Groth book, read both then
attempt the pre-tests. If you don't feel like your ready at that point
then consider the class. I am in the middle of the Groth book after reading
the Meyers book and am picking up just a few bits of info that I either
didn't glean from the Meyers book or he didn't have. I will be ready for
the test by months end and plan to have it done by then, and using only my
experience and those two books.
Meyers for $42.00 and Groth for $56.00, pick one, read it then get the other
and read it and see how ready your are.
So for about $100 for books, and then a voucher, $160 you will be ready to
go I think.
my .02c..

| I am accually doing almost the exact same
Bought Mikes AIO book and read it
Then went to Borders and Read 100 pages a day of David Groths book (for 5
days)
Then took some practice tests
Decided to finish up with reading Exam Cram 2 ....the cheap way....100 pages
a day (for 3 days)
I should be ready anytime now......i picked up alot of facts from each book
that werent in the others.....so they do go good together
Mike = Fun
Groth = Facts
Exam Cram = Good Amount of Tests
Robert

| Buy the Exam Cram 2 Book,
Read it completely, answer the practice questions in the book and you will
pass the exam.
Honestly, the Net+ Exam is too easy. Do the same for A+.
If your ar going to spend more money do it for a challenging certification
like CCNA, you will really learn about networking.
