Author Transcenders Question?
Robert

2003-07-01, 11:24 pm

I am about 5 weeks away from taking the network+ test......i already have
the A+.....i am using transcenders to grade my progress......my question
is......does anyone else use transcenders??? and if you do .....do you look
at the answers to the questions after you are done taking the test???? I
refuse to look at the answers cuz i feel as though it takes away from the
validity of the test......cuz i will remember the answers the next time i
come across that question ..... how do u guys feel about this ......do you
agree???

i am reading David Groths Network+ book right now .....then i am going to
read the Mike Meyers Network+ book.......and then finally the Exam Cram 2
Network+ book........watch the Learnkey videos and CBT nuggets videos and
use Transcenders to chart my progress......does this sound like enough
sources???

Cert21.com any good either?????

David Groths Network+ book is all you need. second book might be exam cram
but that's it.
it's not too hard a test. have you been getting your hands on some networks
is the real question?
Transcender is ok to get use to the test setting.

I know I missed questions on

Apple RTMP distance vector (brain fart)
Frame Relay
ISDN
RAS
NAS

known your:

OSI protocols (which layer)
outputs of diagnostic utility
DCHP with WINS
troubleshooting network scenarios.
blocking ports

Yeah, I used transenders to do the A+ stuff.

First I read the hardware book (examcram, etc) then took the first
test in transenders, printed out the missed and marked questions.
Reviewed them and researched what I didn't understand. I retook the
same test until I got at least 98 percent, then went on to test two
and followed the same sequence.

Then I read the software sections and did the same thing on the OS
side of the transender tests.

One thing you *have* to do is be honest with yourself and if you don't
really understand the question (just guessing at the answer or
remember it from a previous test) then mark the question and print it
out and learn it.

All this is alot of work but it was my first test in 12 years so
didn't want to fail.

Hi,

Did Network+ exam a little while ago but. David Groth's book is very good,
as is Mike Meyer's (only need one book, don' throw your money away on
ExamCram, LearnKey videos, etc.). For practice exams I think the simulation
exams from SelfTestSoftware and MeasureUp are in fact more like the real
exam. Besides you get more questions for the same amount of money. In order
of usefullness:

1. SelfTest
2. MeasureUp
3. Transcender

Same story for practice exams for the 70-210

umm, you say that you will remember the answer the next time you see the
question.....isn't that the point of the transcenders? 8oP Anyway, you can
have it randomize the order of the answers.

It shouldn't be about memorizing the answers, but learning from your
mistakes. You should learn the material well enough to take much of the
guesswork out of it. When reviewing the answers to Trancenders questions,
you'll find good explanations & sources for additional information.

I agree with skinky. Transcenders teaches you the info, and I use the grade answer for every questions. For one it tells you a lot of good info for each question. And its not memorizing, its learning. Once you go though the questions you'll find your self reading a question and knowing the answer before you even look at the choices, thats how you know your ready.

In a sense you memorized that a 10BaseT would use RJ-45 connectors and not BNC, so you could elimante the BNC choice.

I've use what I know and take away answers that don't fit the question.

Good luck.
