Hi Chris, do you put all those certs on your business card?
On a more serious note; did you find the Server+ cert. to help you
with server maintance and such; what is your opinion of the
certification?
Also, what do you see as the main difference between MSCA and MSCE.
And any other bit of advice you can throw our way.
Thanks for the info, buddy....

| dan,
The real difference between the MCSA and the MCSE is that the MCSA is a
Admins exam, where the MCSE is for network engineers.
The server+ (I am about to write myself) is a good rehash of the basics of
servers and really complements material from Microsoft exams. I am still not
sure if it is worth having myself because it is restating other material but
you can never have to much knowledge so I will give CompTIA more money.

| The Server+ exam is decent because it covers things like IT room
environments, and backup tape rotation schemes among other things. It's
good knowledge to round out what you know about networking and systems, etc.
The MCSA concentrates on day-to-day administration of MS networks, and the
MCSE concentrates on designing MS networks as it requires at least one
designing series exam.
If you like IT and see yourself in it for a while, I'd suggest to learn
networking first if at all possible before learning OS-specifics. OSI
layers and wiring, etc. is boring as hell, but it does make a lot of the OS
stuff click a lot better...I went about it the other way around and I'd
wished I'd done networking first...
