Practical solutions?

| I'm preparing to take the Net+ exam, but have little hands-on network
experience. I'm using Groth's fine text and have learned alot, but there
are some concepts that he addresses without giving any explanation of the
way to implement them. For example, on p. 367, he admirably explains
protocol switching in respect to firewall technologies, but gives no
explanation of the way to implement this practically in Windows or Netware.
Could someone suggest a book that address the nuts-and-bolts of implementing
things like protocol switching step-by-step or setting up a dead zone
segment? Thanks.

There are many great text books, online and offline help files and web sites
with loads of information. I admire someone who wants to know more than just
what's on the test!
Here are a few documents and web sites you might invest some time in;
