Should a Net+ cert be pursued if one has already obtained a CCNA cert?
If so, what are the advantages? Does having both open more doors?

Thanks

Given that the material on the CCNA covers everything and more that the
Network+ does to me it would seem to be a waste of money to take the
Network+. The CCNA will open far more doors than the Network+ ever will
because it is far better known and is more advanced. Instead of wasting
money on the Network+ I would go towards the CCNP instead.

Now I must say that if your goal is to be a network admin and if you have
the A+ then taking the Network+ might be a good idea if you want to take
Microsoft certifications. The A+ and Network+ count as an elective towards
the MCSA ( http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/mcp/mcsa/default.asp ) leaving
you only 3 exams to take to get this cert.

I totally agree and if you really want to open your way to being a net admin
then you might want to take the CNA (Novell certification) and the newest
release of the requires Net+ as a pre-requisite.

I will have to disagree here. I feel that the Network+ Exam is an excellent exam to have, considering the fact that it is a vendor neutral exam. Flexibility is key in this industry, so narrowing your vision down to how Cisco says it is done is (IMHO) a huge mistake.

I have my CCNA and I plan on getting my Network+ as well. Two swords are better than one, even if the other one is a little shorter.

Thanks
Bill
