| Well, if your ready, your ready!
Watch for 'trick' type questions
Do always read the questions twice, double check yourself especially when
the answer seems obvious.
Remember you can mark a question and return to it later (not like the
adaptive A+).
If you're ready, you're ready, you'll probably come out of the test amazed
at how easy it was.

What do you mean by trick questions?
Are there questions relating to linux on this exam?

Relax, take a couple of deep breathes when you sit down at the computer to
take the test.
They'll give you some scrap paper, or a dry erase board to use. Write down
all of the stuff you can think of (OSI model, protocols, etc) before you
start the test, then use this as a handy reference.
Also, try and get a good night's sleep beforehand - this will help you think
a bit more clearly.

| What I meant was just be careful about the wording of a question. I can't
think of a good example offhand. By 'trick' I don't mean an especially hard
question, but one that needs more careful consideration of the question.
Don't expect any Linux specific questions, there could be a question that
mentions linux, but only in a Unix context, in other words if you have
studied the Unix basics as provided with any Net+ study material, you
covered for Linux as well.

| The questions I missed on the Boson questions were stupid mistakes..
Like pick which ones you need for a network connection.... I was
totally oblivious to the choice of a rf-45 connector and just saw a
Nic card and cable answer... So watch out for stupid mistakes

the MS Network Essentials exam for the old NT 4 track with no issues and I
fully understand the material. Oh well just nerves I guess

| Lester,
Thanks for the warning. Have you written the real test yet? If so do the
questions that require multiple answers stated select 2 answers or is it all
that apply.

I have just taken and passed the NET+ exam this morning, 10:00. I passed
okay but regards Linux/Unix questions. I had one on what do you need to
access root? What protocols are required for a workstation to gain access to
WinNT server, Novell server and Unix server? Another question on how to
configure eth 0 on a Linux machine. But that was about it. You may well not
see these questions as questions are downloaded random.
Hope this helps and good luck.

| You won't have any problems with the test. I predict you will pass with
ease. Just relax and realize the world doesn't revolve around this test.
Worrying is like a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but it
doesn't get you anywhere. Good luck.

Interesting, if they are the questions I'm thinking of, they are still
pretty basic, and thats what can trip a person up.
The 'what do you need to access root' question is simply password
The protocol question was a multiple answer: TCP/IP and IPX/SPX
Note that in that last one adding 'Novell Server' creates the potential for
a gray area, newer versions of Novell use tcp/ip as well. In this question
the fact that it mentions Unix has no actual bearing on the answer.
They could very well trip a preson up who has not used unix/linux for the
simple reason that the mention of Unix could cause a person to expect a more
difficult, unix specific answer.
On the 'how to configure Eth0 question, how was that worded, or what where
the options? Did it ask you how to configure or how to check configuration?
Was it a detailed question or did it just want the answer 'ifconfig' the
utility similar to NT's ipconfig?

| Tech,
The exam took me about 35 to 40 minutes. There was a good mix of theory (how
long is a 10base5) and apply the theory questions. I was surprised on my
exam that there was only 1 OSI question (which is good because I had trouble
keeping this straight).
What helped me most for this exam was Beach Front Direct (
http://www.beachfrontdirect.com/pitb4.html ) and unlike the A+ exams
www.freecomptia.com will not help you at all (at least in the case of the
exam I wrote).
