sharing folder in mac os x so it can be seen in windows

| I have a mac with 10.2.4 on my home network with a number of windows xp
machines (workgroup based). The machines all see each other and can access
each other. The only problem is on the MAC I have it partitioned 3 ways.
The third partition is empty. I want my windows machines to be be able to
see and write to that third partion on the mac. When I access the mac from
the windows machines all I see are the default folders for the user (nothing
on that third partition). I tried to go into the mac and create a folder
on the third partion. I created the folder, it belongs to the user name on
the mac that I use to log into the mac from the windows machine, however
when I log into the machine from the windows machine with that user name I
don't see that folder.
Any ideas?
Thanks

if you don't mind unix command line, you can activate remote login on
the Mac's system preferences, then download 'putty' (freeware), or any
other ssh client, and 'ssh' anywhere into on your Mac.
or a nice GUI WinSCP(Secure CoPy) ssh client (also freeware) at:

| I'm not sure if installing the Appletalk protocol will solve this problem, but if it doesnt, I
believe that as long as the Mac and XP partitions are FAT32, it should work. I just went through
this with a firewire drive that I fomatted as NTFS on my PC and when I brough it to my friend's Mac,
it could not read it. He had to re-format it as Fat32 and all was ok.

| You need to use SMB, go to Apple's website in the knowledgebase.
